I had been there than once. Nice place to hangout. A small beautiful place. The food is never disappointing. The staff is good.
We had visited this location twice before when it was "Burnt Butter" The experience and the food at that restaurant was enough to keep us away. We were hesitant to visit Carben but are so happy we did!!! From the moment that we walked in, we noticed a huge change....there was heat!!! Although the evening was very cold and we sat right beside the windows, we were cozy warm. The attention to detail is amazing. The service was just wonderful, from the beginning right until we walked out the door. But most of all, the food was absolutely delicious. There were three of us and we had the octopus & the Mushrooms for an appetizer and then the Vegetable tart, Scallops and the Cornish Hen for our mains. All of them were perfectly cooked and the presentation was simply beautiful. I look forward to going to this restaurant again, Thanks for a great evening!!!
From the kitchen to the service, everything about this restaurent is done with skill and attention. This place ranks at the top of my list for restaurants in Ottawa.
What a fantastic meal. There were 5 of us and we each ordered an appetizer and main and every one of us absolutely loved our dishes. Truly one of the best meals I've had in Ottawa. And we had fantastic service. Our water was incredibly attentive but not overbearing. The ambiance is also very nice. We went on a Sunday night so it was mostly empty and quiet, which was nice. Menu changes frequently except for their mushroom appetizer which was outstanding. We will definitely go back again soon.
The place is very lovely, quaint and cozy. You can come casual or dress up which makes the restaurant super versatile for small get together or a fancy date. Tried a couple of drinks but they are more on the common side nothing too different. The appetizer was delicious ! But the main fell a bit short on taste. The food looked better than it tasted. The presentation is on point but the food lacked a bit of cohesiveness.. there was too many flavours going on at once in each of the mains I tried. Would try this place again when they have new dishes to try!
