Really enjoyed Fauna. Ordered a few different dishes and all were fantastic. Lots of interesting flavour combinations and obviously prepared with a lot of passion and care. Definitely will be back next time I am in Ottawa.
Food was good, service, at lunch, was appalling. You can always tell how well a restaurant treats it employees, by how well they treat their customers. At our lunch on the 18th of September, neither of the servers seemed to be remotely interested in us or the rest of their customers. Our waiter was completely disinterested in anyone in the restaurant and more interested in his phone and something in the basement. Took almost 50 minutes to get our food and it was cold. Obviously, waited a long time after it was cooked to get to us. We had one request... salt. Fifteen minutes later, I had to get up to ask the other server. The bill? I had to get up again to ask for that. Never again
Very good deer tartar. Superb taste. But some other dishes lacked panache, which is not what Id expect for the price. For example, the burrata with tomato and melon. I was a little disappointed with the vegetarian options. But everything we had was good.
My friends were in town and found this little gem... They had already had been in for lunch and we returned again that night for dinner. The food was incredible, it left us amazed at the effort and quality with which flavours were presented. Very reasonably priced for what we received. We will definitely be returning. I absolutely recommend fauna to any foodies or those seeking great food and a change of the monotony of alot of restaurants today.
I had such an amazing experience at Fauna! My boyfriend and I went for the tasting menu and it was one of the best meals Ive ever had. I was blown away by how well thought out each dish was from the wine pairings to the portions of every ingredient. On top of the food the service was impeccable. Half way through the meal I began feeling off as I sometimes do, completely unrelated to the food, and our waiter treated us to a $25 gift card. Friendly smiles from the hosts and other wait staff. One of our citys gems no doubt. Cheers!
