I visited the birthing unit in April 2017 to give birth to my first daughter. All staff were comforting, knowledgeable and very helpful! I couldnt have asked for a better experience. I will be visiting this hospital again to give birth to my second child in the future. Thank you!
I went to the Civic yesterday . I had a kidney stone passing. This was my second visit to the emergency room. Firstly, I was relieved that I didn't have to sit in the waiting area for 7 hours like previously. I was put into a bed straight away. The nursing care was incredible. The nurse who looked after me Regina was attentive, caring and obviously loves her job. Thank you for looking after me so well. The Urinology team were awesome! They explained the procedure step by step. I really did feel that I was in good hands. And finally to the nurse Sue who helped me in recovery thank you for your compassion, care and understanding. Thank you!
ER was uncomfortably cold. Not cool, COLD. When the patients all ask for blankets, the nurses wear full sweaters and have heaters at their stations in September!!!.. it's too cold. Service was exceptionally slow, especially given there were no major emergencies the morning I went in. 2 hours up front (in for uncontrolled vomiting and blood in vomit) 3 hours waiting in the back3 hours waiting for an IV bag to empty and have my needle port removed. Get sent on my way with "food poisoning" Entered a little after 4am, left just after noon. Any other service industry, these times and actions would result in a business with closed doors. And it IS a business to the civic campus... people are moneyIf you want quality care, goto the Queensway... or mexico...
Took a day off work to go to emergency because I tried to kill myself the night before and was still pretty messed up.All I got was a referral to the urgent psychiatry clinic, and then they... forgot to call me. For a month. So I got in touch with them, and ultimately they just declined my referral (which apparently they do in 60% of cases, I was told on the phone).Was told they declined it because I didn't go to my family doctor first. But I didn't because I don't have one, and I've just moved to Ottawa and I'm only here for a couple of months. So then they told me to go to a walk-in clinic and they might be able to prescribe something maybe.So basically, you can be depressed for most of your life and try to kill yourself and they'll still do absolutely nothing. Probably a better use of time to just stay at home and die, tbh.
Went in to the emergency last night at midnight. Waited an hour and a half to even get registered. The sad part is it wasnt really that busy, maybe 8 people total (2 of which were guys who got punched in the face). Staff move so slowly, you would think an emergency room would have some sense of urgency. After waiting for over 2 hours not a single person who was waiting was taken in. It was clear that we would be waiting until early morning to be seen. They could at least be honest about wait times, rather than wait 6+ hours to even be seen.
