Cyrville location staff are generally very helpful. During busy times you can expect it to take 30 min to an hour to get your rental, 15-30 min during non busy times. The U-Haul website will let you rent equipment that isn't actually available at the requested time or location, making the reliability of the company pretty low.The self check-in to return vehicles is easy to use and fast once you've done it the first time. I highly recommend this feature.
ZERO stars....if I could post this review without having to click on at least 1 star!THE worst customer service EVER!!!!booked online for a hitch install, was given an appointment by the U-Haul call centre and informed it would take 1.5 hours. I showed up 30 minutes before appointment time and was served at the front desk 45 minutes after.5 HOURS later and a few words of concern with the staff, the job was still not finished and I was told the electrical was just "not possible"so we called a real hitch person "the Hitchman" in Metcalfe. 2 days later and a 10 minute installation we had a hitch. He also said his hitch installations are always less than 1-2 hours!!!!!!!!never again U-Haul....spread the word!
Wait time for a 10am pick up has been 1 hour and 32 minutes. We are still #3 and then have to hook up the trailer. The guys behind the desk are slower than slow they dont seem to care about the line up of people and everyone is frustrated. We even completed an Express checkin. I dont usually make negative comments online but when you need to move and you are under a time limit this is not the place to go.
the primary reason for 2 rather than 3 stars is that I was charged $17 upon being checked in at the site desk despite obtaining a 0 balance owing after paying online the night before. I was told it was a "glitch". This greatly reduced confidence in central management of the org. The 3 star would have been given based on a) the lack of traffic control in the yard b) the inability of the yard crew to answer questions regarding the required steps that need to be taken on site after checking in online, c) the minor dispute between the 2 yard workers regarding how to safely attach the trailer to my vehicle. I am comfortable with this task so I did it. I recommend that renters acquire competence in this regard prior to arriving. The reason that it's not a 1 star is, in my view, the rate is quite cheap for a moving trailer, so since you have to choose 2 from fast, good and cheap, well, my experience got me cheap, pretty fast considering is was month end at the end of the school year, at the expense of "good". I'd rent here again and advise future customers to be prepared for a similar experience.
Customer service is okay, if kind of slow and disorganized. That would be tolerable, but they also have no customer parking on their lot, which is a hilarious deficiency for a company that rents moving vehicles. It is completely foreseeable that most clients would have to drive to pick up their vehicle, especially given the location, and I can't imagine what the thought process was in deciding not to offer customer parking.
