Amazing place. Kids had a blast. I personally couldn't tear myself away from the BF 109 & the Me 163 Komet. Love that thing. A must see museum for sure, great scenic drive to and from if you want to take the parkway as well, makes for a great afternoon. Had one of the better gift shops too.
A great museum. Plenty of activities for kids of all ages. The exhibits are informative and interesting. If you get the chance spend the extra money for the tour of the storage hangar, lots of cool planes and artifacts on display. Plan at least 3 hours to tour the museum. My son loved the space station exhibit.
Four Stars for Aviation. But 1 star for the person who issued parking tickets. We have to display the parking permit on the dashboard which was written in small letters on the gate of the Aviation Museum, about a block away. When we arrived at our car, we found a 25 $ parking ticket even though we had the permit. We called them and they said they were closed and would open on Monday. The Worst part is that the payment can be done online, but we can't resolve this issue online. We had to go to the office and paid 11 $ again for parking at the city hall and it took 2 hrs to resolve this issue. After all that nuisance, they cancelled our 25 $ fine. At some times they want the ticket to be displayed on the dashboard, sometimes you have to carry it with you. But they can't display that info right where we get the permit. Great business for the City of Ottawa.
Fabulous place for plane lovers! This is a must see if you have some extra time and are in the Ottawa area! There is so much to see and take pictures of. If you go with enough time, you can learn a lot as they have tidbits of information everywhere and also do tours as well. Great place if you have a child who loves learning facts and is a visual learner. The little gift shop on your way out is filled with so many things to choose from. Definitely hard not to purchase something, especially if you love everything aviation related. Side note: Admission is free daily for the last hour that they are open, between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.
A great museum on the history of flight and Canada's part in it. The Lancaster bomber is great. The last piece of an Avro Arrow is here. Also there are cheap flight tours available. Call ahead and look online for that. If you have free time there is a volunteer program that seems like a great opportunity to help restore an old airplane. Had a great time.
