Why this brown dude asked me to make a appointment for canceling the membership while the other nice female actually did it in 2mins the other day ???? Why???? If cancellation only takes 2mins. Why the appointment??? I have to come back again for things you could have already done. Negative 2 stars for the very short brown dude.
Terrible terrible service. I got roped into this location because I was approached by staff to try the one week trial with personal training included. I gave him my information and didnt get a call that he said I should expect, so I called the location and asked if I was able to come in the next day. They said yes, so the next day I explained to a staff member that I had signed up for a trial and he told me to come in. He gave me a book (which he later took back) and proceeded to ask me to fill out information about me and my fitness goals. He then asked me more questions and gave me a tour. I know its a gym, but I had never been to a gym that smells as bad as this one. I could hardly concentrate on what the staff member was saying with the smell of cement and sweat. He proceeded to introduce me to plans, and I clearly said that I was looking to try GoodLife next month, and was searching for a suitable gym for a month. I have a gym at my school that I usually use, and I clearly said I wouldnt need a long term membership because I can go back to the school gym once the school year starts. He accused me of being uncommitted (of course I am, I was only seeking a trial) and implied that I was lazy. He used what I wrote as my fitness goals against me and made me feel bad for essentially not being a gym rat. I dont think this is any proper way to convince someone to be a customer. I asked for his business card and tried to leave but he ignored me and continued to press on about different membership options. He ignored my questions about the free trial that HE USED TO GET ME INTO THE GYM IN THE FIRST PLACE and insisted the only free thing hed give is 2 weeks at the gym after the $100 membership fee. I believe its $180 regularly but he implied I was cheap so hed give me a discount (which I found out that $100 was the promotion they were already giving to everyone). After pressing on, he eventually gave me a business card and said hed be able to do the 1 week trial for me. After this experience I dont even want to join any GoodLife location.
I love my GoodLife membership but Im not a fan of the Rideau location. The staff arent attentive or helpful. Theyre very caught up in chatting with each other versus customer service. Not a great schedule for classes. If youre downtown its better to go to the Queen St location!
I was a bit worried that this gym would not be a good place to have a decent workout with all the bad reviews on google, but I think this was before the renovations. I went today and I was surprised with the cleanliness and all the equipment available. 5 squat racks, turf area with 2 sleds, box jump, kettlebells, good free weight section and lots of machines (for people who use that stuff). Air conditioning was adequate with the extreme heat outside. The only thing missing that would give this gym 5 stars is an outdoor view and natural light: this gym is in the basemen of the mall. But overall it is very convenient for the location and I will be back when I am in this area.
Great location with a high standard gym. No windows since your underground if you don't mind.
